Dr. Victor Fries, known as Mr. Freeze, is a tragic figure in the DC Comics universe. A brilliant cryogenics scientist, Fries was driven to desperate measures when his beloved wife, Nora, developed a terminal illness.

Desperate to save her, Fries placed Nora in suspended animation using cryogenic technology. However, an accident during his research irrevocably altered his physiology. He now requires sub-zero temperatures to survive, forcing him to wear a specialized cryogenic suit.

Driven mad by grief and his altered state, Mr. Freeze dedicates his life to finding a cure for Nora and often resorts to criminal activities, usually involving stealing to fund his research or exacting revenge on those he blames for his predicament.

Despite his cold demeanor and ruthless methods, Mr. Freeze is ultimately motivated by love and a deep sense of loss, making him a complex and sympathetic villain in Batman's rogues gallery.
